Chiang Rai Asian Waterfowl Census:Thailand

.......At time of writing, the Asian Waterfowl Census or “midwinter census” (AWC) is well underway, with groups of counters from BCST undertaking responsibility for counting waterbirds in the Inner Gulf, while the Wildlife Research Division, Department of Natinal Parks, Wildlife and Plants Conservation is coordinating the activities of department staff to count waterbirds in and near protected areas throughout the country.
......There is still time to submit data for your favourite birding site that qualifies as a coastal or freshwater wetland (remember: rice paddies are wetlands too!) Any sites that contain waterbirds may be counted, large or small. All we need is a name and location (subdistrict, district, and nearest twon or settlement) and detais of the nhabitat type. (Map coordinates are wanted from those who have access to a map or who own a GPS).
.......Althugh the main count period is the middle two weeks of January, in reality any counts of waterbirds during anytime in January or February will be gratefully received.
.......This is a chance to contribute to a continent-wide count of waterbirds, that provides a “snapshot” of broad scale distributions on all waterbird species across Asia. It also provides details of numbers of both common and scarcer species that are used in three-yearly updates of waterbird population estimates by Wetlands International.
....This year We have Census Chiangrai Meeting In 17-19 January 2008 At Nong Bong Kaay Wild Life Sanctuary. Please Come To Join With Us. And Find Worderful Of Migaration bird.
